The World’s football body, FIFA, has appointed Rwanda’s top professional woman referee Salma Rhadia Mukansanga to officiate the fourth quarter final match of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup which will pit Germany against Canada on Sunday night in Uruguay.
Canada and Germany face-off in the fourth quarter final match on Sunday night, 25 November 2018 at 19:00 (midnight local time,-Monday morning) at Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo.
The third quarter final will see African representatives Ghana taking on Mexico earlier at 16:00 ((21:00 local time).
Mukansanga has had good performances in the on-going World Cup with tonight’s match being her third official assignment in the on-going FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Her World Cup debut started on November 16 when she handled the Group A Match between hosts Uruguay and New Zealand which ended with the away team beating hosts 2-1.
Then on November 20, she officiated the Group B match between Japan and Mexico which ended in a 1-all draw.
In today’s match, Mukansanga will be assisted by Fanta Kone from Mali as the first assistant referee, Bielignin from Burkina Faso as the second assistant referee with Yoshimi Yamashita from Japan being the fourth official. Sarah Jones from New Zealand is the reserve referee.
The 28-year old referee began her refereeing career in 2007 before becoming an international referee in 2012. Since then, she has officiated at major tournaments, including Africa U-17 and U-20 finals as well as senior World Cup preliminary games, 2015 All African Games, and the 2015 CECAFA women challenge that took place in Jinja, Uganda.

This year’s U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the 6th edition since its inception in 2008. North Korea who are defending champions, will be dethroned as they didn’t make it to the last four after being knocked out by Spain 3-1 in the quarter final round on November 24, 2018.
